The guiding sentence

Where the sentence comes from

The sentence appears on every page of this website. It was not written at a desk: Peter found one part of it and added the other himself.

  1. Learn to

    Added by Peter

    Learn first, then lead

Peter added this part himself, over the course of his working life. Because anyone who wants to take on responsibility has to be willing to learn first: to listen, to understand how things connect, to gather experience. That is how every new task and every leadership role began for him - which is why learning is not a single step for him, but an attitude.

  2. Serve

    What leadership does

Leadership does not hand down answers

Peter is convinced that good leadership does not consist of handing down answers. Good leadership creates clarity, develops people and enables others to take on responsibility.

  3. & Protect

    Washington D.C.

    Where Peter found the sentence

Before he moved into business, Peter served with the German armed forces, among other roles as a military police officer. That service took him, among other places, to Washington D.C., and there he came across a guiding sentence that has stayed with him ever since: “Serve and Protect.” It was a time in which he experienced responsibility, discipline and the value of trust at close range.

Mindset

Who Peter is

Leadership has accompanied Peter von Wartenberg throughout his working life - not as a theoretical concept, but as an everyday responsibility. Along the way he learned that lasting success never comes from strategies or processes alone: it comes from people.

Learned

Well-founded knowledge

Over the course of his career he learned from some of the most renowned strategy consultancies and leadership experts, and experienced modern management methods, change processes and leadership approaches first-hand.

Applied

Many years of leadership experience

The decisive difference: he did not merely get to know these concepts, he applied them himself for many years in practice - under real conditions, with real decisions and real responsibility.

Both together

The basis of his work

That combination of well-founded knowledge and many years of leadership experience is the basis of his work today as an adviser, coach, mentor and sparring partner. He does not support leaders with standard solutions, but with a practical eye that keeps both the strategic perspective and the person at the centre.

Today

Where this experience lands

Today he works with executives, leadership teams and organisations - through keynotes, leadership development, executive sparring, and team and culture development - aiming to support them not only with well-founded knowledge, but above all with experience that has proven itself in complex situations.

His conviction

And he is convinced: good leadership does not hand down answers. It creates clarity, develops people and enables others to take on responsibility.

Personal

What shapes his view

Peter is the father of two now grown-up children and married to an entrepreneur.

These two worlds - family and entrepreneurship - still shape how he looks at responsibility, leadership and working together.

Personal development never ends - it begins anew every day.
